Workshops 2008 At the heart of any Social Forum are the workshops. These workshops introduce people to important social issues, are strategy sessions, provide training, and create space for people to network, exchange ideas, and/or collaborate. We expect each workshop will last no more than 2 hours.

US Empire: Nostalgia and Real History |

Much discussion recently has called for a return to an America of the past, supposedly an era of democracy, jsutice, and human rights. The Obama campaign is but one example of the attempt to reinvigorate the American myth. This workshop will trace the roots of American imperialism from the earlist years and demonstrate that the United States we imperialistic from its inception.

Zionism and Israel as an Apartheid state, and the case for boycott, divestment and sanctions. |

This workshop will explore both the history and current manifestation of Zionism, a racist ideology based on ethnic exclusion. Given that Israel will never willingly give up this ideology, it is our belief that an international campaign of boycott, divestment and sanctions can be a powerful tool in the struggle for the liberation of Palestine
